Why you should take a close look at Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge if you are Planning a Honeymoon in Kenya
A Honeymoon in Kenya, sounds like, and would be like a dream come true. Where do you go, and where do you stay when you are looking to take a luxury safari African vacation in Kenya? This is the key question, and at least part of the answer could well lie in choosing Amboseli National Park as a favourite place to get photographs of elephants against a backdrop of the snow capped Mount Kilimanjaro. Amboseli is easily reached from Nairobi and one of the best, if not the best place to stay is the Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge.
Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge is situated in the shadow of Mount Kilimanjaro, next to a spring and beside giant Acacia trees, with stunning views of the mountain, and surrounded by the kind of big game that makes the lodge such a great place to go for a honeymoon in Kenya.
You will almost certainly see as well as the elephants, animals such as lions, buffalos, cheetahs, giraffes, baboons, gazelles and wildebeest. In fact you are very likely to see Elephant family groups up close and personal in the grounds very close to the lodge, as there are more wild elephants in Amboseli than almost anywhere else in Africa.
Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge is designed to imitate the native architecture, so it sits well with its surroundings, and the room interiors, which are all different, have a definite African feel to them, with the walls covered in murals and African memorabilia.
There are in all 96 guest rooms, with 17 pairs which are interconnecting. Unlike some lodges Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge has 24 hour electricity which is a bonus on any Kenya Safari vacation, but the outstanding thing is undoubtedly the cheerful, willing, and efficient staff, who offered great service at all times. What is especially good is the welcome back from a game drive with a hot towel to wipe your face.
You will also be guarded by Maasai warriors, although their main function is probably to keep the very friendly monkeys at bay.
The open air dining room overlooks the salt lick and floodlit waterhole, much visited by the big game, and here you will eat international food, buffets, barbeques and authentic African cuisine. The standard of the food is what you would be looking for on an African Safari vacation, both fresh, and with great variety of choice. Breakfast and lunch are buffet and dinner is a combination of buffet and menu.
There is a bar next to the dining room, and another small bar by the swimming pool, which is by the way ice cold!! By the pool there is a supply of fresh clean towels, and sunbeds.
You can sit on the verandah which overlooks the pool and the gardens and get some really excellent game viewing from there. One of the key selling points for this safari lodge is how good it is for access to the Amboseli game park, and you get the chance of three game drives a day in your own vehicle with your own driver.
Apart from the game drives, you can also have bush dinners, sundowners at Observation Hill, private picnics, lunch boxes, personal game drives. There are also daily guided nature and bird spotting walks through the grounds of Amboseli Serena Lodge with the resident naturalist, plus daily lectures on aspects of the Maasai culture.
Importantly there is full medical back up and emergency evacuation facilities.
Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge is just one of a group of Serena Safari Lodges, but is ideally situated for game viewing. It would be a good place to stop for a couple of nights on any Honeymoon in Kenya. Many families do come here as well as part of their holiday in Kenya or as part of a bigger luxury African Safari.
It certainly bears further investigation
